Hugo, Girl!

For this month's spooky special, we read The Elementals (1981) by Michael McDowell. It was interesting and at times very spooky! But we can't recommend it, for reasons (racism, the reasons are racism).

We went to Worldcon and came home with a Hugo! Here's our (silly, rambling) report.

This episode was recorded before Worldcon, so the discussion about the Hugos is a little out of date! :) We're at Dragoncon right now, so we'll do a con report once we recover from so much con. But for now - THANK YOU! We are so grateful.
This month we read Rainbows End, a very good try by our friend and yours, Vernor Vinge. There's a good book in here, which you can just see if you squint past all the Scooch-a-mouting around.

This month we watched the 1972 film Sleuth, starring Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier. Sleuth was selected by listener Andy, who contributed to our most recent fundraiser. This movie was lots of fun - thanks, Andy!
Voting in the Hugo Awards closes on August 8th at 12:00pm (noon) PDT. If you haven't voted yet, don't forget!

We're busily reading the Hugo voter packet, so it's summer movie season on the podcast! This month we watched Attack the Block, a 2011 horror scifi adventure starring John Boyega and Jodie Whittaker. Thanks to Ed for choosing this movie!
