This lesson practises simple Polish phrases for small accidents and everyday problems: What happened?, I have a problem with…, It’s okay, Nothing happened, and Everything is fine.

1. Grzesiek fell down the stairs

What happened?

🇵🇱 Grzesiek spadł ze schodów.
Grzesiek fell down the stairs.

🇵🇱 Ma problem z równowagą.
He has a problem with balance.

🇵🇱 Ale jest cały.
But he is okay.

🇵🇱 Nic się nie stało.
Nothing happened.

🇵🇱 Wszystko w porządku.
Everything is fine.

2. The beer spilled
🇵🇱 Co się stało?
What happened?

🇵🇱 Piwo się wylało.
The beer spilled.

🇵🇱 Trochę się wylało.
A little bit spilled.

🇵🇱 Mamy problem z piwem.
We have a problem with the beer.

3. The shopping bag broke
🇵🇱 Co się stało?
What happened?

🇵🇱 Pękła torba.
The bag broke.

🇵🇱 Wysypały się zakupy.
The shopping fell out.

🇵🇱 Mam problem z torbą.
I have a problem with the bag.

🇵🇱 Trzeba to pozbierać.
We have to pick it up.

🇵🇱 Mleko jest całe.
The milk is okay.

4. Grzesiek has a problem with his bike

What happened?

🇵🇱 Mam problem z rowerem.
I have a problem with the bike.

🇵🇱 Mam problem z hamulcami.
I have a problem with the brakes.

🇵🇱 Hamulce nie działają.
The brakes don’t work.

🇵🇱 Rower jest cały.
The bike is okay.

5. Nothing happened — I’m sunbathing
🇵🇱 Co się stało?
What happened?

🇵🇱 Nic.
Nothing.

🇵🇱 Opalam się.
I’m sunbathing.

🇵🇱 Nic się nie stało.
Nothing happened.

🇵🇱 Po prostu odpoczywam.
I’m just relaxing.

6. The toast burned
🇵🇱 Co się stało?
What happened?

🇵🇱 Grzanka się przypaliła.
The toast burned.

🇵🇱 Moje śniadanie się spaliło.
My breakfast burned.

🇵🇱 Mamy problem z tosterem.
We have a problem with the toaster.

What happened?

This is a very useful Polish question.

You can use it when someone is sad, worried, angry, or crying.

🇵🇱 Imagine your partner is sad
Imagine your partner is sad.

Maybe she is crying.

So you come to her and ask:

 

🇵🇱 Kochanie, co się stało?
Honey, what happened?

 

🇵🇱 Co się stało?
What happened?

🇵🇱 Imagine your child is crying
Imagine your child is crying.

Or your child is very sad.

 

So you come to him and say:

 

🇵🇱 Ojejku, co się stało?
Oh no, what happened?

🇵🇱 Co się stało?
What happened?

🇵🇱 Imagine your friend is sad
Maybe your friend is also very sad.

You can ask:
