Bridging Workplace Language and Culture with Rony Jabour

    15/09/2026 | 1h
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our guest is Rony Jabour, Founder & CEO of United Safety Net, a leading safety training and consulting organization serving the construction industry across the United States. Rony brings a deeply personal and profoundly human perspective to the safety profession, one shaped not by textbooks or certifications, but by lived experience, loss, and purpose.
Rony shares the story of losing his father at six years old to a preventable workplace accident in the Amazon forest. That moment — the instant he “became the man of the house” — shaped his life’s mission: ensuring no family endures what his family endured. After immigrating to the United States and working in construction, he witnessed unsafe conditions firsthand. An OSHA visit changed his trajectory, leading him to become a translator, then a trainer, and ultimately a national voice for culturally competent safety education.
Throughout the episode, we explore the intersection of language, culture, and psychosocial safety. Rony explains why many organizations misdiagnose their challenges as “language problems” when they are actually culture problems — differences in communication norms, authority dynamics, educational backgrounds, and lived experiences. Silence in a training room doesn’t mean understanding; it often means fear, shame, or cultural conditioning.
We also discuss how psychosocial hazards show up long before physical ones: workers distracted by family crises, immigrants carrying the weight of two countries, and supervisors unaware of how tone, customs, or assumptions create risk.
Rony’s message is clear: safety is human. It requires humility, curiosity, trust, and cultural awareness. And above all, every worker, regardless of language, background, or birthplace, deserves to go home safely every single day.

Psychosocial Safety in Aviation with Dr. Angeline Ram

    01/09/2026 | 1h 5 mins.
In this powerful episode (176) of the Psychosocial Safety USA Podcast, Dr. I. David Daniels sits down with aviation safety expert and cross‑disciplinary researcher Dr. Angeline Ram for a conversation that reshapes how we think about safety in one of the world’s most regulated industries.
Aviation is known for precision, discipline, and near‑flawless physical safety. But beneath the checklists and compliance culture lies a deeper truth: psychological health and safety is the missing link in the aviation safety ecosystem.
Dr. Ram shares her lived experience across global aviation operations — from the Middle East to Canada — and reveals how incivility, identity‑based stressors, and inequitable workplace structures quietly undermine reporting cultures, weaken engagement, and increase risk. She explains why workers often stay silent, how power and occupational status shape who gets heard, and why even safety managers can feel unsafe speaking up.
Together, Dr. Daniels and Dr. Ram explore:
Why aviation’s safety systems overlook the human experience
How identity, status, and culture shape reporting behavior
The hidden cost of incivility and everyday disrespect
Why workers choose coping over reporting
How grassroots movements are pushing psychological safety forward
What the next decade of aviation safety must include
This episode is a must‑listen for leaders, safety professionals, and anyone who believes that true safety requires more than procedures — it requires people who feel safe, respected, and empowered.
Tune in and learn how psychosocial safety is becoming aviation’s new frontier.

Exploring Moral Harm with Dr. Kenneth Logan

    18/08/2026 | 1h 11 mins.
In this powerful episode (#175) of Psychosocial Safety USA, Dr. I. David Daniels sits down with psychologist, academician, and trauma expert Dr. Kenneth Logan for a first‑ever conversation that goes straight to the core of the psychosocial safety ecosystem: moral harm and moral injury.
Dr. Logan, who has spent more than 30 years working with first responders, military personnel, clergy, therapists, and others exposed to morally complex situations — breaks down how moral harm emerges when workplace conditions violate deeply held values. He explains why moral injury is not simply an emotional reaction but a predictable outcome of organizational environments that silence, scapegoat, betray, or abandon people when they need support most.
    Listeners will hear:
How moral harm disrupts identity, trust, conscience, and belonging
The four types of moral injury: commission, omission, betrayal, and witnessing
Why accountability must be truthful, proportionate, and oriented toward repair
How value conflicts arise in real workplaces — and why they matter
The overlap between Dr. Logan’s research and Dr. Daniels’ Psychosocial Safety Deterioration Pathway™
Why Gen Z’s refusal to abandon their values is reshaping organizational culture

This episode offers deep insight into the human consequences of value‑violating environments, and how organizations can create genuine psychosocial safety by addressing the conditions that cause harm in the first place.
A must‑listen for leaders, practitioners, and anyone committed to building workplaces where people can speak honestly, be treated with dignity, and recover from morally complex experiences.

The Intersection of AI and Safety with Lance Beloney

    04/08/2026 | 1h 1 mins.
In Episode 174, Dr. I. David Daniels and Guest Lance Belony examine the growing intersection between artificial intelligence and psychosocial safety in the workplace.
While AI raises legitimate concerns about job security, fairness, and loss of control, those reactions stem from how people perceive and experience the technology — which is exactly what can turn AI into a psychosocial hazard. At the same time, AI has the potential to strengthen psychosocial safety when it’s used to reduce overload, increase clarity, support decision‑making, and identify emerging risks.
This conversation explores how AI can either create harm or enhance safety depending on leadership, transparency, and worker involvement, and includes a deep discussion with a guest who understands AI as a tool for safer, healthier work.
