EP 44 - I Watched Adolescence as a Photographer. I Felt It as a Father.
This episode isn’t about photography. Not really. It’s about a show that hit me in such a way I had to talk about it.I just watched Adolescence on Netflix — a cinematic sledgehammer starring Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper as the 13 year old boy arrested for murder. The performances left me speechless as did the direction by Philip Barantini. and writing by Jack Thorne and Graham. Shot in one take. Four episodes. No cuts. No mercy. As a photographer, I was floored by the visual storytelling. As a dad… I was disturbed. This show isn’t so much entertainment — it’s a mirror. It’s a question we all need to be asking: do we really know what’s going on in our kids’ lives .This is me processing it all. No plan, no notes — just an immediate reaction. EP 43 - Who’s Actually Keeping Street Photography Real on YouTube? (Rant Alert!)
Let’s talk about why is most street photography on YouTube is so... bad? Overhyped, and about as spontaneous as a plate. Listen I’ve nothing against the creators here, good on them, it’s more about me being intrigued and annoyed as to why YouTube rewards that gooey syrupy kind of a video over the handful of photographers telling it as it is. This isn’t some deep-dive analysis—it’s just me having a good old-fashioned rant about the state of things. Expect sarcasm, some brutal honesty, and maybe this is us making a stand for the quality youtube street photographers. Hit play, have a laugh, and if you disagree... well, that’s what the comments are for.YOUTUBEhttps://youtube.com/lashmarTHE DARE PHOTOGRAPHY WHATSAPP COMMUNITYTo gain entry to our WhatsApp community, contact Gary and Katie via the webpage:Community IntroductionWEBSITElashmarcreative.comINSTAGRAM• The Street ThiefInstagram• Dare (idaretoshoot)InstagramTHE INSPIRATION SHOT (weekly photography inspiration)Inspiration ShotZINESThe Way of the Street PhotographerBooks & ZinesMusic by Max BiancoInstagramThank you for SUBSCRIBING.Lashmar (aka the Street Thief)x.

EP 41 - Why Most Photographers Bullsh*t Themselves and Stay Stuck
An off-the-wall, disruptive, street and portrait photography podcast hosted by Gary Lashmar, aka the Street Thief from East London, UK. We’re creating, we’re disrupting, we’re clicking, and we’re putting the world to rights. A podcast that keeps it real and asks questions that no other photography podcasts do. Fires arrows at industry nonsense. With a tilt toward street photography, leaving no stone unturned. In this episode Most photographers don’t actually want to get better—they just want to feel like they’re getting better. And that’s the problem. The comfort zone is where your dreams go to die. Photography growth isn’t about mastering composition, finding the best lens, or chasing the perfect preset. The hardest part of improving is admitting you’ve been full of sh*t.In this episode, I pull the carpet out from under you. We’ll talk about:🔥 Why most photographers are stuck in a trance—repeating the same habits and mistaking comfort for growth.🔥 How a lot of what is out there online keeps you sedated—feeding you validation instead of real challenges.🔥 The illusion of progress—how watching tutorials, buying gear, and playing it safe keep you stuck.🔥 The only real way forward—embracing discomfort, breaking habits, and waking the f*ck up.Most people run from the harsh reality.
