“And now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain….”We are sad to say that we have come to the last episode of Where Is My Mind, and what a journey it has been. Hundreds of podcasts, world class guests, incredible human stories and a dedicated bunch of listeners who have supported us through it all. For our last episode, Niall is joined by Ciara, who produced the first two seasons of the podcast, and Aoife, who has produced hundreds of episodes since. With a shared passion for changing how we see, treat and understand mental health and wellbeing, the trio discuss the highs and lows of the last 6 years, from how the podcasting landscape has changed to the ongoing societal shifts that impact each of us everyday. It’s a bittersweet ending but we are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved with this podcast, and we hope it encourages each of you to continue to critically thinking about the world, the space we take up in it and space it takes up in us.For more mindfulness content check out Niall’s Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/niallbreslinFollow Niall on IG @bressie, TikTok @niallbreslin, FB @whereismymindpodcast and Twitter @nbrez and visit his website: www.niallbreslin.com.If you or someone you know is struggling emotionally or feeling hopeless, it’s important to talk to someone about it now. The Therapy Room - Brave Enough To Be with Louize Carroll and Dr. Tony Bates
As we wind down the final episodes of Where Is My Mind, we couldn't go without one last visit to your favourite segment: The Therapy Room.In this special episode, Niall is joined once again by long-time friends of the podcast and two of Ireland’s top psychologists, Louize Carroll and Dr. Tony Bates. Since The Therapy Room began, we've explored some of the most important themes that therapists encounter in their work — and today, Louize and Tony reflect on the biggest lessons they’ve learned over the years. They speak to the profound bravery in vulnerability, and the deep honour of witnessing someone step fully into themselves — beyond the weight of internal and external expectations. They also touch on the importance of balancing the individual story with the broader context, and why we need to reevaluate how we see those who are experiencing pain or deemed ‘crazy’. Louize and Tony both finish by reading passages from some of their favourite literature, and share their hope that people never give up on themselves. This episode discusses some sensitive topics, please take care when listening. The Empire Has No Clothes with Pissed Magistus
The systems we live under are having such a massive impact on our collective wellbeing, but are not inevitable — they were built, and they can be unbuilt. This week, Niall Breslin sits down with someone who has been helping him make sense of the world. Pissed Magistus is a powerful cultural critic and digital creator whose work has helped countless people make sense of the modern world. Known for their ability to translate complex ideas into accessible, emotionally resonant insights, Pissed Magistus brings a unique lens to some of the most pressing issues of our time.Together, they explore the deep psychological and emotional impact of capitalism, the illusion of individualism, and the quiet crisis of meaning that so many of us are living through. Of course this conversation can’t be had without examining the ever-powerful shadow that America casts on the world, and the divide-and-conquer strategies keep us disconnected. They unpack what a fairer and more humane system could look like, and why communication and imagination are essential tools for collective change. For more mindfulness content check out Niall’s Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/niallbreslinFollow Niall on IG @bressie, TikTok @niallbreslin, FB @whereismymindpodcast and Twitter @nbrez and visit his website: www.niallbreslin.com.If you or someone you know is struggling emotionally or feeling hopeless, it’s important to talk to someone about it now. Eat the Frog with Dermot Whelan
In the modern world, being “flat out” has become a way of life—but it’s leaving us burned out, disconnected, and running on empty. In this episode, Niall sits down with Dermot Whelan—TV and radio broadcaster, comedian, author, mindfulness teacher and long time friend of the podcast—to unravel Ireland’s obsession with busyness and the toll it’s taking on our well-being. Dermot’s new book, Busy and Wrecked, explores how we’ve come to wear exhaustion like a badge of honor, why we struggle to slow down, and how we can break free from a system that constantly demands more. Together, he and Niall discuss the roots of Ireland’s culture of busyness, the inherited stress of our history, and the guilt that comes with stepping off the treadmill. Dermot shares his own journey recovering from burnout, the practical tools that helped him shift his mindset, and how sometimes eating the metaphorical frog can help us refocus on what’s really important (although we’re not sure Niall’s dog Stevie would agree).
