Ep. 121 - We Need to Talk (feat. The Content Creators) PART 1

    08/10/2026 | 1h 35 mins.
After weeks of online debate, posts going viral, and more than a few heated comment sections, Danny and Jason decided to do something different. Instead of talking about content creators, they invited two of them into the studio.
Lauren from Social Brides Club was the first wedding content creator in the UK, four years ago, and has built one of the most recognisable businesses in the space. Erin from Your Day Unplugged followed a similar path, turning a natural talent for iPhone content into a full-time career. Both are based in Scotland and both have plenty to say.
This week they get into how content creation even became a thing, what it actually is when you strip away the buzzwords, and why the phrase behind the scenes has probably done more damage to the industry than any angry comment ever could. Lauren makes the case for why the iPhone is the right medium for the service she offers and why she has zero interest in ever becoming a videographer. Erin explains why the two services, done properly, are not in competition at all.
Danny and Jason push back where they need to, and agree where they genuinely agree, which turns out to be more often than you might expect.
There are real moments of clarity in this one about where the confusion between the two services actually comes from, why some couples genuinely do choose one over the other, and what both sides could do a better job of communicating to the couples that are still trying to figure it all out.
Part two lands next week and that one gets considerably more real.

Ep. 120 - YOU ARE TOO OLD TO FILM WEDDINGS... Apparently

    03/09/2026 | 45 mins.
Fresh off the back of two weeks of content creator conversation, Danny and Jason were planning something different this week. Then Jason arrived with a post that derailed everything in the best possible way.
A photography and videography duo in America published a post arguing that Gen Z couples should only hire Gen Z photographers and videographers because they understand them better. That older suppliers make couples feel like their teacher is in the room. That they speak the same visual language because they grew up with film revival, Y2K nostalgia, and editorial photography. The post has since been removed and the comments disabled, but not before photographer Emma Wilson from Story Of Your Day posted a response so measured, so precise, and so well argued that Danny and Jason spend most of this episode reading it out and agreeing with every single word.
They get into why attacking another supplier to sell yourself is not just bad marketing, it puts an expiry date on your business. Why connection isn't generational, it's human. Why every trend Gen Z is currently reviving was built by the generation they're telling couples not to hire. And why in any other industry, a post like that would be an open and shut case of age discrimination.
They also touch on the ongoing content creator conversation, what the engagement from the last two weeks actually looked like, why some of the responses missed the point entirely, and whether videographers have been too quiet for too long when it comes to having these conversations in the open.
A looser one this week, genuinely unplanned, but probably one of the more interesting episodes in a while.
Shoutout to Emma Wilson at Story Of Your Day for the response post. https://www.instagram.com/p/DctYPNsCKvp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsi=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Ep. 119 - The Industry Responded: Videographers vs Content Creators Part 2

    27/08/2026 | 43 mins.
Last week's episode clearly hit a nerve. The comments came in thick and fast, from videographers, from photographers, and crucially from content creators themselves, many of whom slid into Danny and Jason's DMs with voice notes saying they agreed with everything being discussed and appreciated the fact that it was handled with respect rather than the usual pile-on.
This week they're back with part two, reading through the comments, sharing the responses, and going deeper on the conversation that clearly needed to happen.
A post from a magazine with over 100,000 followers surfaces mid-episode and it's a belter. The caption lists the things your official camera might miss, including your best friend fixing your veil, your mum getting emotional, and the random uncle going too hard on the dance floor. Danny's response involves a butterfly, a spider's web, and a story that will make you feel considerably better about your worst wedding day. Jason's response is considerably less charitable.
They also dig into where the real confusion comes from, why the deliverables model is the actual blurred line rather than what gets captured on the day, why videographers could be doing a much better job of showing the moments that build their films rather than just posting teasers, and why the lower end of the videography market is probably feeling the most pressure right now and what to do about it.
The episode ends with a commitment to bring a leading content creator onto the podcast in the next few weeks for a proper, constructive conversation about the language being used and how the two industries can work better together. If you've got questions you want them to ask, get in touch.

Ep. 118 - Content Creators Vs Wedding Videographers - What's The Difference?

    20/08/2026 | 34 mins.
It's a conversation that keeps coming up in wedding industry groups, in comment sections, and on wedding days themselves. Where does wedding videography end and content creation begin? And why does there seem to be so much tension between the two?

Danny and Jase get into it this week after a post from a content creator started doing the rounds, one that was well-intentioned but ended up implying that wedding videographers don't capture the candid moments, the fleeting glances, the atmosphere, the conversations happening around the couple. The stuff that, according to the post, only a content creator delivers.

The problem is that's exactly what videographers do. Danny & Jase breaks down why posts like this, however unintentional, are actively creating confusion for couples who are trying to understand what they're actually booking, and why framing content creation as the thing that captures authenticity while videography just creates beautiful cinema is a false choice that doesn't reflect what most wedding videographers actually deliver.

They also talk about why the real difference between videography and content creation isn't what gets captured on the day, it's what happens to the footage afterwards. The content creator sends everything raw within 48 hours. The videographer curates, shapes, pairs moments with audio, and builds something designed to last. Same moments. Different product. Both have genuine value.

There's a call to the industry to stay in their lane when it comes to online posts and bridal forums, to stop the animosity between suppliers on wedding days, and to let the actual strengths of each service speak for themselves rather than accidentally undermining someone else to sell your own thing.

A good one this week, and one that'll probably spark some conversations.

Ep. 117 - Should You Ever Discount Your Prices?

    07/08/2026 | 33 mins.
It comes up in every Facebook group, every videographer community, and probably every slow week you've ever had. Should you discount your prices? Is it a sign of weakness? Is it bad for the industry? Or is it just smart business?
Danny and Jason get into it properly this week, and the answer is more nuanced than the usual "never lower your worth" advice you see online.
Jason talks through how his thinking has shifted over the years, from a firm no when he first got established, to a more considered approach based on real factors: how close the venue is to home, whether it's a weekday, whether the date would otherwise sit empty, and whether the back end editing workload justifies the number. A wedding 12 minutes from the house where he's home by half nine and watching TV while the footage backs up hits very differently to a late-night drive back from the Borders.
Danny reveals how he actually manages this without ever calling it a discount. He runs three separate pricing brochures, one for peak season, one for off season, and one for local bookings, and sends the right one based on the enquiry. He has also deliberately taken on lower budget projects when the creative challenge appealed to him, and explains why that is sometimes the right call for keeping the work interesting.
They also get into why pride and ego plays a bigger role in the "I never discount" stance than most people admit, why outsourcing your editing completely changes the maths on what you're willing to work for, and why having wiggle room built into your pricing from the start means you never have to feel like you're giving something away.
If you've ever stared at an enquiry that's slightly under budget and wondered what to do with it, this one will help you think it through.
