It's been almost two weeks since the attempted hijacking of FlyDubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Air travel changed massively after the 9/11 attacks in 2001, and as the investigation into this hijacking event continues, it may be that this will also become a turning point in the way public air travel is conducted. Initially, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the event looked like a grandiose suicide attempt, and Donald Trump immediately blamed Iran, but as the investigation has progressed, both leaders' initial assessments have proven incorrect. This last Wednesday on October 30th, flight FZ1073 took off from Dubai, on a routine flight to Tel Aviv. The plane was being flown by Indian pilot captain Smit Machchhar, with a Muslim Co-pilot from Dubai. On board were 166 Israelis, and 8 people from other countries, on their way to visit Israel. 
No one could have anticipated the dramatic events that unfolded in the time span of just a few short minutes. This may be one of the most dramatic close calls in aviation history, and many are claiming it was a miracle that the flight didn't end in disaster.
