EP422 If Estrogen Is Protective... Why Not Take It Alone? With Dr Daved Rosensweet

    15/04/2026 | 1h 5 mins.
If estrogen is protectiveโ€ฆ why shouldnโ€™t it be taken alone?
In this honest and thought-provoking conversation with David Rosensweet, we explore one of the most confusing topics in womenโ€™s health: estrogen, progesterone, and cancer risk.
Youโ€™ll hear perspectives that may challenge what youโ€™ve been told - including the idea that estrogen can be protective, while at the same time being unsafe when used on its own.
    So which is it?

    In this episode, we discuss:
Why estrogen is often considered protective for the brain, bones, and overall health
Why itโ€™s still commonly recommended to pair estrogen with progesterone
The role of estradiol as a more proliferative form of estrogen
Why estriol is often considered more protective, and why it makes up 80% of Bi-Est
How this perspective are Estriol and Progesterone is also supported by Michael Platt
The controversy around the Women's Health Initiative and how it shaped public perception
A different perspective on hormone testing, including limitations of the DUTCH test
The importance of testosterone for muscle mass, metabolism, and aging (including sarcopenia)
How lifestyle, metabolic health, and environment play a major role in cancer risk
This is not a black-and-white conversation. Youโ€™ll hear areas where we agree - and areas where we donโ€™t.
My goal with this episode is not to tell you what to think, but to help you better understand the nuance so you can make informed decisions about your health.
As always, context matters. Hormones are powerful, and their effects depend on the individual, the dose, and the bigger metabolic picture. Plus my previous conversations can give you more insight if you want to learn more.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments - this is a conversation worth having.

EP421 DIM For Estrogen Detox? What it actually does (and who shouldnโ€™t take it) with Kitty Martone.

    06/04/2026 | 1h
Most women take DIM to โ€œdetox estrogenโ€โ€ฆ but thatโ€™s not actually what it does. And for some, it may even make symptoms worse.
Youโ€™ve probably heard that DIM helps detox estrogenโ€ฆ but is that really true?
In this episode, I sit down with Kitty Martone to break down what DIM actually does in the body, how it influences estrogen metabolism, and why itโ€™s not always the right solution for every woman.
We discuss how DIM works primarily in Phase 1 liver detoxification, helping shift estrogen down the 2-OH pathway instead of the more proliferative 16-OH pathway. But thatโ€™s only one piece of the puzzle.
Because true hormone balance isnโ€™t just about liver detoxโ€ฆ
If your gut (Phase 3 detox) isnโ€™t working properly and youโ€™re not eliminating regularly, you may be recirculating estrogen โ€” and adding DIM into the mix can sometimes make symptoms worse.
In this conversation, we also explore:
What DIM is and where it comes from
Estrogen metabolism and the 2-OH vs 16-OH pathways
Why โ€œestrogen detoxโ€ is often misunderstood
The role of liver detoxification (Phase 1 & Phase 2)
Why gut health is essential for hormone balance
When DIM may not be the right choice
Alternative strategies for supporting estrogen balance
    Lifestyle factors that impact hormones
The connection between emotional health and hormone balance

If youโ€™re struggling with hormone imbalance, estrogen dominance, or considering taking DIM, this episode will help you make more informed decisions about your health.

EP 420 Fibroids Explained: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Options with Dr Bryan Treacy.

    01/04/2026 | 52 mins.
Did you know that up to 75% of women develop fibroids at some point in their lives? In this episode, I speak with Dr. Bryan Treacy about what fibroids are, how they can affect your health, and the treatment options available. Also we clarify some confusion from our last conversation on fibroids and blood flow.
    We cover:
What fibroids are and why they form
Case studies, including women with multiple fibroids
How fibroids contribute to heavy menstrual bleeding
Different causes of heavy bleeding in the presence of fibroids
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) and why itโ€™s offered
    Fibroid recurrence after myomectomy
Recurrent polyps after menopause and distinguishing polyps from cancer-
Gaslighting in womenโ€™s healthcare โ€“ when women are not heard, misdiagnosed or prescribed unnecessary medications

    *Point of Reference mentioned in the conversation;
How fibroids can cause heavy bleeding:
Increased surface area of the uterine lining = Submucosal fibroids stretch the lining, causing more tissue to shed.
Distortion of the uterus = Fibroids interfere with normal uterine contractions, prolonging bleeding.
Fragile blood vessels = Fibroids can form abnormal vessels that rupture easily.
Local hormonal signaling = Fibroids can produce signals that overstimulate the endometrium.
Venous congestion = Large fibroids compress veins, causing blood pooling.

If youโ€™re curious about fibroid treatments or want to better understand your options, this episode is a must-watch.

EP 419 Protect Your Brain: Books, Dreaming & the Hidden Impact of Horror Movies with Jules Vazquez.

    24/03/2026 | 56 mins.
In this conversation, I sit down again with Jules Vasquez (Brain Body by Jules) to explore how our everyday habits especially what we read, watch, and do before bed - shape our brain health, stress levels, and overall well-being. We talk about why reading physical books (not scrolling or eBooks) can act as a true mental reset - almost like a mini vacation from daily stress - and how this simple habit may support focus, memory, and nervous system regulation.
We also dive into the importance of sleep and dreaming, and why your dream state plays a key role in mental health, emotional processing, and clearing out the brain. And yesโ€ฆ we discuss how horror movies and intense content may impact your nervous system, especially if youโ€™re already dealing with high stress or poor sleep.
โœจ In this episode, we cover:
Why reading books supports brain health and reduces stress
Books vs. screens as a form of escape and recovery
The role of sleep and dreaming in mental clarity and repair
How your nighttime habits influence your brain and hormones
The potential impact of horror movies on stress and sleep

If youโ€™re looking for simple, practical ways to support your brain in a high-stimulation world, this episode will give you a new perspective on what you consume, both mentally and physically.

EP 418 The Winter Gene: Hibernation Mode, Cave Man Disease, Mania, & Cannibalism with Jeff T. Bowles

    19/03/2026 | 1h 40 mins.
In this second conversation with independent researcher and author Jeff T. Bowles, we explore his controversial and thought-provoking theory about The Winter Gene and the idea that humans may be biologically programmed to enter a form of โ€œhibernation mode.โ€
Jeff suggests that ancient survival pathways - designed to help humans survive winter, famine, and limited sunlight - may still exist in modern biology. According to this theory, many modern health conditions could be linked to these dormant survival programs being unintentionally activated.
This wide-ranging conversation explores evolutionary biology, metabolism, vitamins, and some very unconventional ideas about disease and seasonal physiology.
    Topics discussed include:
โ€ข What The Winter Gene theory is
โ€ข Why Jeff believes humans may be stuck in a form of hibernation mode
    โ€ข The concept of โ€œCaveman Diseasesโ€ and โ€œCavewoman Diseasesโ€
โ€ข The idea of biological โ€œantifreeze programsโ€ in human metabolism
โ€ข The history of the 1920s supplement boom
โ€ข The role of Vitamin D in calcium metabolism and calcification
โ€ข Why nutrients like Magnesium and Vitamin K2 may act as cofactors for vitamin D
โ€ข Debates surrounding blood testing and modern nutrition science
โ€ข Jeffโ€™s unusual perspectives on seasonal biology, including discussions around mania, extreme survival behaviors, and historical references to cannibalism
โ€ข Controversial ideas about cancer and winter biology

This was a fascinating and sometimes surprising conversation that challenges many commonly held ideas about health and disease.
Whether you agree with Jeffโ€™s theories or not, discussions like this encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and deeper exploration into human metabolism and evolutionary biology.
