    Quotes:
    Emily
I have realised in my mid 40s creating events is my superpower.
The soulful long lunches were born because of connection and to be inspired and then be nourished on all levels.
I have always loved events and experiences and authentic connection with community.
As daunting as it can be to arrive at an event by yourself, we do have a lot of people that do it and they connect with others straight away.
It is a time to pause and come into the space, come into that moment of time.
I want people to go away with some tools that they can use in their daily lives.
I wanted to tie in just a bit more of an authentic experience where we are around a dining table and we do have that connection.
I wanted to make it a bit more accessible to people as well.
Simplify as much as possible and finding those things in your life that make you feel connected.
Connection with beautiful food and then connection with people.
Those people that fulfil your cup and make you feel light and bright, stay with them and feel that connection.

    Cyndi
When the ecology is working, the plants are working, the animals are healthy, the plants are healthy, and then we eat foods that are highly nutritious.
When we nourish our body because we are eating foods that are nourished by our farmer and then cooked by the chef.
There are many ingredients for health. It is not just nutrition, it is sunshine, movement, connection.
I do it for me and my family foremost.
    As I learn, I teach.
When we learn and we educate, you don’t know the lives that you are changing.
We try and be the best that we can and then that knock on effect happens.
I think we are in a bubble, but the bubble’s bigger than it was when I started this back in the 80s.
I always believe when you have a philosophy, then you know exactly what you should be eating.
It is nice to have praise to know you are on the right track.
Community is really important. Connect and support your community and that will help with commerce.
Buy local as much as you can buy from your local people.

    Quotes:
I feel the sun is not just light. It is information and it speaks directly to ourselves.
Sunlight helps to regulate your circadian rhythm, your internal body clock, so that you sleep better, think clear and feel more balanced.
A little sunshine can instantly lift your spirits.
    We are solar beings.
The sun isn’t just something you see in the sky. It is something you feel in your soul.
When you honour that connection, you ignite your energy, your vitality, and your life force.
The sun is one of the most incredible medicines and one of the most amazing life force transformations we could ever embrace.
Enjoy the sun, pay homage to her, respect her, and just know just how important she is as a part of our daily health and well being.

SLP 584: Healing From the Inside Out with Elyse Comerford

    01/06/2026 | 1h 23 mins.
In this episode of the Self Love Podcast, Kim sits down with nutritionist and founder of Wellbelly Health Clinic, Elyse Comerford, for a deeply inspiring conversation on holistic health, gut healing, motherhood, and self-love. Elyse shares her powerful journey of becoming a single mother while completing her nutrition studies and building a thriving wellness business grounded in a client centered, root cause approach to healing. Together, they explore the impact of sunlight, circadian rhythms, nutrition, screen time, and modern lifestyle habits on children’s and adult health, while offering practical and accessible ways to reconnect with nature and support wellbeing. The conversation also dives into self-trust, authentic living, and Elyse’s philosophy of self-love as honouring your inner knowing and taking aligned action. Filled with wisdom, honesty, and grounded health insights, this episode is a reminder that healing often begins with simplicity, connection, and returning to what feels true.

    About Elyse
Elyse Comerford is a Clinical Nutritionist, business owner, wife, mother, and founder of Well Belly Health, known for her grounded and honest approach to wellness. After overcoming her own complex health challenges, she became passionate about helping others understand the deeper connection between the gut, nervous system, metabolism, and overall wellbeing.

Alongside her work, Elyse is deeply family-oriented and passionate about creating a simple, connected life centred around health, presence, and living in alignment with what truly matters. Through her clinic, programs, and online education, she is helping people move away from fear-based health culture and toward a more sustainable, resilient approach to healing and living well.

Her definition of Self Love is: My definition of self love would be listening. It is listening to what it is you are needing or what is trying to be expressed and following it. I think the biggest act of self-love is actually feeling a need or a desire, hearing it and then doing it.

Her favourite quote is from: David White poem titled “All the True Vows”

    All the true vows
    are secret vows
the ones we speak out loud
    are the ones we break.

    There is only one life
    you can call your own
    and a thousand others
you can call by any name you want.

Hold to the truth you make
every day with your own body,
    don’t turn your face away.

    Hold to your own truth
at the center of the image
    you were born with.

    Those who do not understand
    their destiny will never understand
    the friends they have made
nor the work they have chosen

nor the one life that waits
    beyond all the others.

By the lake in the wood
    in the shadows
    you can
    whisper that truth
    to the quiet reflection
    you see in the water.

    Whatever you hear from
    the water, remember,

    it wants you to carry
the sound of its truth on your lips.

    Remember,
    in this place
    no one can hear you

    and out of the silence
    you can make a promise
it will kill you to break,

    that way you’ll find
what is real and what is not.

I know what I am saying.
    Time almost forsook me
    and I looked again.

    Seeing my reflection
    I broke a promise
    and spoke
    for the first time
    after all these years

    in my own voice,
    before it was too late
    to turn my face again.

    Quotes:
My journey to get there is a lifelong one.
Our clinic is different in the approach that we take. It is truly root cause and really looking at the person and what is going on.
I call it client centred, not protocol centred, in the way that we work.
We are living very different lifestyles to what we were designed for.
There is a lot of stress, a lot of sensory input and overload.
We need lots of sunshine, we need to be in a relaxed brainwave states for majority of our day.
The light drives our energy production more than food does.
Getting out in the sunshine is just a basic human need.
I don’t ever try and convince anyone.
People want to believe whatever they want to believe.
You can prove something not to be true, but not so easy to prove something to be absolutely 100%.
Think of how humans were meant to live. We are meant to function with the natural light.
We just need to go back and think of having some real food at each meal.
No protocol can ever be designed to be perfect for everyone.
The people who live the longest, healthiest, happiest lives are not restrictive around what they eat.
Do the best with what you can.
Perfection is not a way to grow, and courage comes through taking action.
I had a really strong belief that I am destined for something good, and I just need to keep moving towards it.
I have a choice of the direction of my life.
My intention in my business is that I want to help the most people for the least amount of money.
I want to break that stigma that you have to spend a lot of money in order to work on your health.
Honouring that yearning is the biggest act of self love.

SLP 583: Self Love Quicky - Honouring Every Stage of Womanhood

    27/05/2026 | 5 mins.
In this heartfelt Quicky of the Self Love podcast, Kim invites women to honour every phase and season of womanhood. From the innocence of the little girl to the curiosity of the maiden, the depth of the mother and the wisdom of the wise woman.

This episode explores the sacredness of ageing and challenges the modern fear of growing older, reminding us that women are not meant to fade with age, but to fully arrive into their wisdom, truth and sovereignty. Through reflections on ancient rites of passage, self-love rituals, and deep self-acceptance, Kim encourages woman to embrace where they are right now without resistance or comparison.

A beautiful reminder that every stage holds purpose, power, grace, resilience, and magic. This journey is not about losing ourselves, but remembering who we have always been.

    Quotes:
I really wanted to invite us to honour every stage of womanhood.
There is a rhythm to being a woman.
There is a quiet, powerful unfolding that moves through every season and chapter of our life.
Every stage is sacred and each one asks something different of us, and each one holds its own kind of magic.
Instead of cursing getting older, what if we could actually honour and celebrate it as they do in many ancient cultures.
We have stopped celebrating the becoming.
We were taught to hold on to youth instead of rising into wisdom.
We are not meant to disappear as we age.
The wise woman is not less than, she is the embodiment of everything that has come before her.
There is nothing more powerful than a woman who honours where she is right now in this moment, without rushing, without resisting, without wishing it away.
This isn’t a journey of losing yourself.
It is a journey of remembering who you have always been.

SLP 582: Wise Woman Energy with Jo Plummer

    25/05/2026 | 1h 12 mins.
In this deeply heartfelt and honest conversation, Kim is joined by one of her dearest lifelong friends, Jo Plummer. From their early days navigating life as young partners within New Zealand cricket circles to raising families, building careers and supporting one another through every stage of womanhood, this episode is a beautiful reflection on friendship, resilience and self-love.

Jo shares her extraordinary journey from representing New Zealand in water polo to becoming a teacher, childbirth educator and passionate Pilates instructor. She opens up about motherhood, raising four children, navigating the realities of elite sport, supporting a son in professional rugby, and the emotional impact of social media criticism and mental health pressures within high performance environments.

Together, Kim and Jo explore the transitions of perimenopause and menopause, body image, strength training, movement, ageing well and learning to protect your peace.

This episode is filled with wisdom, warmth, humour and the kind of deep connection that only decades long friendship can bring. It is a powerful reminder that women need women, that community matters, and that every stage of life offers us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves with courage, authenticity and grace.

    About Jo
Jo had a varied cultural life growing up. Her dad, an Engineer, was based in Indonesia in the 70s so the family lived the expat community life in her early years. Schooling was in Auckland and Jo along with her 2 siblings found passion in Waterpolo, going on to represent NZ at both age group and then the NZ women’s team for a number of year. This set her on her pathway to training in Physical Education while competing all over the world in her chosen sport.

Jo has had the privilege of becoming qualified in a number of fields in her adult life. A trained Secondary Physical Education teacher since 1994 she taught and lectured until about 2003. While taking time out to start and grow a family, she retrained in Childbirth Education and began her own business, Birthwise, in the Franklin District in Auckland in 2002. These private Antenatal education classes grew her passion for empowering women and their support networks to guide them through their journey to parenthood and beyond. It is still a vocation she is passionate about to date.

Jo and her husband Mark completed their family (three sons and a daughter) in 2006 and her journey with Pilates began in 2008. It was recommended to her to help strengthen a weakened low back and pelvic floor after having 4 children. After seeing the immense benefits in such a short amount of time, she had the opportunity to begin training in the STOTT PILATES® method. In 2012 she successfully completed her intensive training and rigorous examination process to become a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor in mat work, reformer, cadillac, chair and barrels.

JPILATES was the next step in this amazing journey and a way to continue to do something she was passionate about from home, while juggling a busy household. Hence its birth in 2013.

Nowadays the kids have left home and creating their magic all over the world. Jo’s business is thriving with about 120 client and the introduction of Pilates to more men which is exciting. She has always prided herself in creating not just an environment for people to come and move but a community to support each other.

Her definition of Self Love is: My thought process on self-love has changed through my years of growing and it has been shaped on my experiences both in my own body and the environment around me. My values have changed. It is what I truly need right now.
I think my version of self-love changes in small ways, from week to week, day to day. Self-love at the moment for me means being selfish even when it’s hard.

Her favourite quote is: Gratitude is the ultimate bio hack & the best investment you can ever make is in yourself.

    Quotes:
We have always been a family that have been very active.
I was blessed enough back in the 80s and 90s to represent New Zealand. It has taken me all over the world playing for national teams.
Everything was self-funded and mum and dad did everything to allow us to be able to do that which was fascinating.
Pilates was introduced to me after 4 children, 4 big babies and needing to strengthen a weakened back and weak pelvic floor.
I have been really lucky over the time that I have been able to reinvent myself half a dozen times.
The focus has always still been on educating.
At the backbone of it all, it has been about movement and exercise, which I am so passionate about.
I feel blessed that as I have moved through my lifestyle and my family’s that I have been able to work alongside raising a family.
Not many people can say that they got a lifelong friend like that.
It was some of the best years but also some of the hardest.
It made me resilient to spend time in my own company.
It made me such a strong mother being able to bring up my children on my own when he was travelling so much. I look back now with pride.
We made a conscious decision for me not to work.
    My family is my world.
Wherever I am with my kids, that place becomes my favourite place.
These people are human beings. We all make mistakes, learn from our mistakes, grow from our mistakes and we strengthen from our mistakes.
Courage and confidence essential oil has been what has got me through every single rugby game.
Stillness makes you fragile and movement makes you unbreakable.
There is always something you can do to retain and maintain your strength.
I ask does this serve me? Am I protecting my peace and my energy? Am I a good role model for the people around me?
I have learnt to say no without more explanation.
I have learnt to allow myself the space to rest and recharge.
I am learning to love my new body with less judgement and more acceptance.
For me I need to protect the energy in my home.
    Like attracts like.
I have created a community of people.
When we have a small group of women that you can go through life with and share every single moment with and not be judged and be there to support us, is the biggest act of self love.
