We are back and my voice is barely holding on but we are pushing through because there is a LOT to catch up on 😅
First things first, Ocala is one week away and there is a mystery horse I am showing that y'all do not know about yet. Plus Denver just went and won his first class back fresh off breeding season like it was nothing, and Penelopey might be making her riding debut while we are there. No big deal. Just a lot happening.
Then we get into your questions from the comments and honestly y'all came through with some good ones. We talk through everything going on with Maggie including the laminitis update, why we chose Gracie over a nurse mare, and where things stand now. We also cover Daphne's hip injury, next year's foal count, what actually makes a colt a stallion prospect versus a gelding, Gretchen's first mini horse show, and the hardest question of all, which five broodmares would I start my entire breeding program over with? 🐴

I still can’t believe everything that happened this week… 🐴💕
This has been one of the most emotional and intense foaling seasons I’ve ever experienced. In today’s episode, I’m sharing the full story of Maggie, from her emergency colic surgery while pregnant to the unimaginable moment she delivered a healthy foal less than 24 hours later. It’s a rollercoaster of farm life, tough decisions, and just how incredible these horses truly are.
We talk through everything behind the scenes, the vet visits, the risks, and why a C-section in horses is nothing like it is in humans. We also chat about Stephanie's very interesting milk-tasting technique, foal watch updates on Happy, Phoebe, and Annie, and we wrap up with another round of "Do You Know Your Animals?" featuring Lindsay.

Getting to finally sit down and really introduce y’all to my new trainer felt so overdue… and I’m so excited for you to meet Stephanie! 🐴💕
In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, I’m sitting down with Stephanie to talk all about her background with horses, how she got started training, and what led her to Running Springs. We get into everything from her early riding days to working with young horses, plus what it’s been like stepping into an in-house trainer role here on the farm.
Of course, we also dive into the fun stuff, my two-year-olds (Wall-E, Molly, and Daphne), their personalities, how they’re progressing, and which ones we’re most excited about right now.
Having Stephanie here has completely changed the way I’m able to manage my horses. From starting two-year-olds at home, to making more tailored decisions as they grow, to honestly just helping me get back in the saddle more consistently.
It really feels like the start of a whole new chapter for the farm, the horses, and the kind of content we get to create together.

The last couple of weeks on the farm have been an emotional roller coaster, but that’s real life during foaling season. 🐴💕
In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, I’m catching y’all up on everything that’s been happening lately — the good, the hard, and the really unexpected moments that come with farm life.
We talk about our newest little addition to the crew (meet Frankie 🐶), barn updates, and several new mares that have joined the program. But we also open up about some of the tougher moments from the past week, including a difficult foaling loss, a goat miscarriage, and Maggie’s colic surgery while she’s still pregnant. Farm life can bring so much joy, but it also comes with real challenges, and I wanted to share that side of it with y’all too.
Through all of it, we’re still moving forward with the horses, the foals we’re expecting, and the exciting training work happening at the barn with Stephanie. There’s always something happening around here, and I’m grateful y’all are along for the ride with us.
