Cattle Ranchers (and Pharmacists) Perspective on Modern farming Practices

    02/2/2026 | 1h 22 mins.
Welcome to another episode of Food, Freedom, and Fertility. Host Caitlin Johnson has Natalie Kovarik on to talk all about the beef and dairy industry.
Natalie is a 4th generation cattle rancher turned social entrepreneur who weaves western & urban living to feature agriculture in a unique & alluring fashion.

She is the dynamic co-host of the popular podcast Discover Ag & has carved out a niche for herself beyond the digital landscape as a sought-after, vibrant speaker.
Unlike some agriculture podcasts (which can feel dry or niche), Discover Ag blends farming with trending headlines, viral moments, & cultural conversations to make ag feel fresh, relatable, & undeniably fun. Discover Ag is NOT about cows and crops — it's about how agriculture shows up in everyday life, from Starbucks cups to TikTok wellness trends. It's smart, relatable, and wildly fun.

Natalie, alongside her husband Luke, owns and operates Kovarik Cattle Co, a cattle ranch located in the heart of the Nebraska Sandhills.

Caitlin asks Natalie all of her burning questions about how beef gets to your grocery store, what dairy products are worth splurging on and her thoughts on buying only organic produce! It is one you will NOT want to skip.

Why Men Need Better Sperm Quality Testing - Kristin Brogaard

    19/1/2026 | 1h 13 mins.
Welcome to another episode of Food, Freedom, and Fertility. Host Caitlin Johnson has Kristin Brogaard with Path Fertility.
Kristin Brogaard, PhD is Co-founder and CSO of Path Fertility, a division of Inherent Biosciences, a molecular diagnostics company at the intersection of epigenetics and AI. Dr. Brogaard is an experienced molecular biologist, study director, and operations manager for early stage biotech startups.
Dr. Brogaard received her PhD in Molecular Biology from Northwestern University developing novel epigenetic technologies. She subsequently worked with Dr. Leroy Hood, a pioneer in personalized medicine technologies, first as a post-doc and then as a colleague launching a novel scientific wellness start-up, Arivale.
Caitlin and Dr. Brogaard have an indepth chat about sperm health and how most sperm tests done when looking at a couple's fertility is simply not enough. She believes infertility affects men and women equally, but technology has not allowed men to be an equal partner in the fertility testing process – until now.
SpermQT analyzes the sperm's ability to find, bind, penetrate, and fertilize an egg. The ability to complete these important steps relies on the sperm quality and function, critical factors that are measured by SpermQT.
According to Dr. Brogaard a lot of infertility goes undiagnosed because men go undiagnosed. When men go undiagnosed, women go through procedures that will not work. In this episode Caitlin and Dr. Brogaard chat about why it is important to look into your partner's sperm and get more testing done for both male and females.
SpermQT is givving our listeners a discount to their product! Use code FFF20 at checkout.

The Epidemic of Suboptimal Hormone Function - Ashley Koff

    12/1/2026 | 1h 50 mins.
Welcome to another episode of Food, Freedom, and Fertility. Hosts Caitlin and Sophia chat with Ashley Koff.
Ashley Koff is the founder of The Better Nutrition Program (BNP), has spent over 25 years dedicated to creating resources that simplify nutrition and help people live healthier, more fulfilling lives. She also has the privilege of serving as the Nutrition Director for UC-Irvine's Susan Samueli Integrative and Functional Medicine Fellowship, where she mentors the next generation of healthcare leaders. Together, they are working to rewrite the rules of wellness with integrative, personalized approaches to health.
Through heer personal and professional history, she has learned about weight-health hormones and their role as regulators of overall weight health (what she calls our body's "ecosystem"). When functioning optimally, they put things where they should go – muscle, bone and fat. When suboptimal – whether suppressed, delayed or dysfunctional – they keep us all from optimal weight health. Through clinical practice over 15 years, she created the first weight-health hormone function assessment and protocols for optimization. She shares that with you here and in her new book Your Best Shot: The Personalized Plan for Optimal Weight Health- GLP-1 Shot or Not.
Throughout her career, she has been honored to be recognized for her work, including being named Hollywood's Leading Nutritionist (InStyle) and one of CNN's Top 100 Health Makers. Her books, Recipes for IBS and Mom Energy, reflect her passion for making better choices accessible to all, and she is thrilled to be releasing her third book—my "love letter to better"—with Harper Collins (HaperOne) in January 2026.
In this episode Caitlin, Sophia and Ashley chat about complex health challenges and turn them into simple, actionable steps that stick. This episode is one you won't want to skip!
