Dr. Will Cole: How to Heal Your Cells, Leaky Gut, Light Exposure, and Why Your Gut Sets the Pace To Aging

    10/09/2026 | 1h
We talk about aging like it happens to a whole person at once. It doesn't. It happens organ by organ, at different speeds, and most people never find out which part of them is running ahead until something breaks.
Dr. Will Cole has spent sixteen years running one of the first functional medicine telehealth centers in the world, and he came to this conversation with a case that is both clinical and personal. In 2023 his father lost consciousness at the wheel and died in the crash. The autopsy pointed to cardiometabolic changes, and his heart cells had been aging faster than the rest of him. That same year, Stanford researchers found that one in five adults over fifty has at least one organ aging faster than the others, and that when it's the heart, the risk of a cardiac event more than triples.
His new book with Dr. Josh Axe, Heal Your Cells, makes an argument that reframes most of what gets called normal aging. Exhaustion, brain fog, the weight that will not move, the hormone shifts nobody can explain. These are not the calendar. They are cells that have stopped reading their own instructions clearly, and that is a state you can change.
We get into what actually makes a cell feel unsafe, why your gut lining is one cell thick and therefore the first thing to break, and the point almost nobody makes about elimination diets: the reintroduction matters as much as the elimination, and a protocol you never came off of is a cast you left on until the muscle atrophied.
We also get into light. Not just morning sun, but the darkness half, which matters more for women than most people realize. Melatonin is not only a sleep hormone, it's one of the more important antioxidants for ovarian aging, and light levels most people would call almost nothing can cut its production substantially.

Dr. Tania Dempsey, MD: Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, PMOS, and the Hidden Cause of Women's Chronic Symptoms

    03/09/2026 | 1h 17 mins.
Most women who deal with unexplained allergies, stubborn inflammation, heavy periods or a PMOS (formerly PCOS) diagnosis are never told to look at the same underlying cause: an immune cell most doctors were never taught to test for.
Dr. Tania Dempsey, MD, trained in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins before leaving conventional practice to focus on mast cell activation syndrome, a condition she believes explains far more chronic illness in women than most doctors realize. She's the founder of The AIM Center for Personalized Medicine and helped found the International Society for Mast Cell Activation Syndromes, where she now serves as treasurer.
This isn't some rare, fringe diagnosis. Dr. Dempsey estimates it may affect as many as one in five people, and in women it hides behind a long list of other labels, PMOS, endometriosis, hypermobility, unexplained heavy periods, that rarely get connected back to the same root.

Dr. Margie Davenport, PhD: Exercise in Pregnancy, the 140 BPM Myth, and Why Pregnancy Complications Predict Heart Disease

    27/08/2026 | 59 mins.
Pregnancy has long been treated as a season to slow down and play it safe. The data tells a different story, and it starts with a number most women were taught to fear.
Dr. Margie Davenport, PhD, is an exercise physiologist and professor at the University of Alberta who has spent over a decade studying how the body moves through pregnancy, postpartum, and the years before.
What stayed with me most: a pregnancy complication isn't just a pregnancy problem. It's information about a woman's future heart health that most of us are never told to pay attention to.

    This conversation explores
Why the “stay under 140 beats per minute” rule taught to pregnant women for decades was already outdated before most of us ever heard it

What Dr. Davenport's lab is learning by tracking a baby's heart rate and blood flow in real time during heavy lifting and high intensity training

Why gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and gestational hypertension are now considered a risk factor for future heart disease as strong as smoking

Why the “high risk at 35” label given to so many pregnancies is based on outdated data rather than a woman's actual health

Why almost no strength exercise, including deadlifts and heavy squats, has been shown to need to be avoided in a low risk pregnancy

Why the standard advice to wait six weeks and then resume normal activity after birth has little evidence behind it

How staying active after birth is tied to a real reduction in postpartum depression and noticeably better sleep quality, even when total sleep doesn't change

Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, DO: Muscle as the Organ of Longevity, Protein Mistakes, and the Truth About Menopause Muscle Loss

    20/08/2026 | 1h 2 mins.
Muscle is not just something you build in the gym. Dr. Gabrielle Lyon has spent her career arguing it's the organ that actually determines how well you age, and almost none of us have been taught to think about it that way.
Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, DO, is the founder of Muscle-Centric Medicine and the New York Times bestselling author of Forever Strong. She's spent over two decades studying muscle as the most overlooked organ in medicine.
The line that stuck with me most: she believes we're on track to trade an obesity epidemic for a sarcopenia epidemic, and most people won't see it coming until it's already happened. It's the kind of prediction I can't stop turning over, especially knowing how many women are on these medications right now without anyone telling them how to protect their muscles while they're on them.

Why muscle, not weight, decides how you age

Why most women are not eating enough protein

The protein habit most people get backwards

Why menopause doesn't have to mean muscle loss

What GLP1 users need to know to protect muscle

Dr. Christin Glorioso, MD, PhD: The Alzheimer's Blood Test, How to Cut Your Dementia Risk by 30%, and Why Women Are at Higher Risk

    06/08/2026 | 1h 11 mins.
Brain aging does not start when memory loss shows up. It starts around age 25, decades before anyone notices anything is different. By the time a symptom appears, the window for the highest-leverage prevention has usually already closed.
Today I'm talking with Dr. Christin Glorioso, an MD and PhD who has spent her career studying Alzheimer's, partly because of her own family history and partly because she carries the ApoE4 gene herself. She has since used her own brain scans, blood work, and lifestyle changes to lower her own brain age, and she's built a company around helping other people do the same.
This conversation covers what actually causes Alzheimer's versus what we got wrong for decades, why the brain can grow back the same way muscle does, and why a ten minute daily habit has better evidence behind it than any drug currently on the market. We also get into hormone therapy, cholesterol, the ketogenic diet, and why women are so consistently underserved on all three.
