In this episode of The Danny Rants Podcast, I sit down with Melbourne security legend Clay Amutaghi.

From his early days growing up in South Auckland, to stepping into the fight world, Clay’s story is built on discipline, pressure, and survival.

    We talk about:

Growing up in South Auckland and the environment that shaped him

His fighting career and the mindset it takes to step into the ring

Moving to Australia and starting again from scratch

The dangerous reality of running doors in Melbourne’s wildest nightlife era

The day he was shot and looking down the barrel of guns while working in security

What it truly means to be a security boss

Representing his Samoan culture and what it means to him

This isn’t just a “security story.”
It’s about loyalty, leadership, identity, and carrying responsibility when everyone is watching.

Clay opens up about the violence people don’t see, the pressure of protecting venues, and the code you live by when you’re the man on the door.

If you’re interested in Melbourne nightlife history, real fight culture, or powerful Pacific Islander leadership stories — this one’s heavy.

From Underworld Family to Strip Club Owner — Bar 20 Owner Michael Trimble

Michael Trimble was born into one of Australia's most infamous underworld families. Related to Robert Trimbole, the drug kingpin made famous in Underbelly, and the son of the man who owned the legendary Daily Planet brothel, his life was never going to be ordinary.

Today, he owns Bar20 — one of Melbourne’s most well-known strip clubs.

In this episode, Michael tells his full story. From growing up with an infamous last name and being quite literally born in to the adult industry, to eventually running his own club, we go deep into the reality of the strip club business.

We talk about the rules, the fines, how the money really works, what most people don’t understand about the industry, and what it actually takes to survive in it.

    Nothing was off limits.

This is one of the most honest and eye-opening conversations I’ve had.

    Before the sold-out clubs.
    Before the packed dancefloors.
Before Latin music became a dominant force in Australian nightlife.

This is the real story of Jimmy Toro.

Raised in Western Sydney by parents who came to Australia as refugees, Jimmy grew up surrounded by resilience, sacrifice, and strong community values. What started as a love for music and DJing slowly evolved into something much bigger — building La Cueva, now one of the most influential Latin nightlife brands in the country.

In this episode, we go deeper than the dancefloor:

Growing up in a refugee family in Western Sydney

Finding identity through music and nightlife

The rise of Latin culture in Sydney & Melbourne nightclubs

A community and culture many Australians rarely see

This isn’t just about parties or promoters.
It’s about heritage, hustle, and building something from nothing — while carrying the weight of family, culture, and expectation.

Welcome to a side of Australian nightlife you probably didn’t know existed.
