  • #148 - ‘What the fuck was that?’ (WTFWT?)
Lets continue exploring the different instruments & sounds in the band. We covered Bass & Drums, now its the turn of the guitar intro/opening, ya know those opening few bars/chords that grab your soul senses & leaving you with only one thing to say: ‘What (or who) the fuck was that!’ The guitar intro is crucial to the whole song, it decides weather you're in or not, if indeed you are going to invest in this tune! I liken this to our first encounters with people, do they draw you in, entice you & seduce you... more importantly though, are they the real deal? Do they have sustenance, quality & the good stuff once the initial ritual is over..? Tune in & find out more!Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE.................References -----------------------‘Sweet home Alabama’ Lynard Skynard from Second helping (1974)(‘Don’t fear) The reaper Blue oyster cult from Agents of fortune (1976)‘Lifes been good’ Joe Walsh from But seriously folks (1978)‘Oh well Pt1’ Fleetwood Mac from Then play on (1969)‘Reelin in the years’ Steely Dan from cant buy a thrill (1972)‘Shine on you crazy diamond pt1-5’ Pink Floyd from Wish you were here (1975)‘Layla’ Derek & the Dominoes from the Cream of Clapton (1970)‘Gimme Shelter’ The Rolling Stones from Let it bleed (1969)‘Listen to the music’  The Doobie Brothers from Toulouse St (1972)‘Big yellow taxi’ Joni Mitchell from Ladies of the canyon (1970)‘Chuck E’s in love’ Rickie Lee Jones from Rickie Lee Jones (1979)‘Lola’ The Kinks from Lola versus the powerman & the monygoround (1970)‘The spirit of radio’ Rush from Permanent waves (1980)

  • #146 - ‘In the world, but not of it...’
What did Jesus mean by ‘in the world, but not of it?’ He sure did speak in cryptic riddles didn’t he! I figure he saying that being of the world makes you a silly cunt who brings no good to no-one... Being ‘in the world’ means being grounded & in our bodies... but not a slave to worldly things like greed, ignorance & high horsery! Focus on spiritual principles like kindness, patience & love... all will be well Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE...............References -------------------Keep on rocking in the free world’ Neil Young from Freedom (1989)‘One world’ John Martyn from One world (1977)‘Everybody wants to rule the world’ Tears for fears fromSongs from the big chair (1985)‘Mad world’ (Tears for fears) performed by Michael Andrews & Gary Jewels from Trading snake oil for wolftickets (2001)‘The world keeps on turning’ Fleetwood Mac from Fleetwood Mac (1968)‘The man who sold the world’ David Bowie from the man who sold the world (1970)(‘What a) wonderful world’ Art Garfunkel, James Taylor & Paul Simon from The Art Garfunkel album (1982)‘Crazy world’ Aslan from Goodbye charlie moonhead (1994)‘When i look at the world’ Lucinda Williams from Down where spirit meets the bone (2014)‘Dandy in the underworld’ T.Rex from Dandy in the underworld’ (1978)‘I saved the world today’ The Eurythmics from Peace (1999)

  • #145 - ‘Training for the afterlife’
Is this whole life thing, the human experience, somehow a workout for what's to follow in the great gig in the sky? Are we experimenting, learning, exploring ways to be ourselves & co-exist with other humans & beings? Can we touch heaven on earth or hell equally? I don’t know the answers to these mysteries... but hey, no harm in having a good aul chat about it!Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE.......References ---------------------‘Highway to hell’ AC/DC from Highway to hell (1979)‘Amelia’ Joni Mitchell from Hejira (1976)‘Be’ (introduction of Jonathan) Neil Diamond from Jonathan Livingston seagull (1973)‘Lovely day’ Bill Withers from Menagerie (1977)‘Heaven’ Joan Armatrading from Track record (1983)‘Both sides now’ Joni Mitchell from Both sides now (2000)‘Have a good time’ Paul Simon from Still Crazy after all these years (1975)‘Knockin on heavens door’ Bob Dylan from the motion picture Pat Garrett & Billy the kid (1973)‘Its not easy’ Ofege from Try to love (1973)‘Into the mystic’ Van Morrison (1973)

  • #144 - ‘No horse high enough’ (Invitation, support, challenge or judgement?)
In this episode, I take a close look at how we communicate with each other. What is our motive/intention if we want to say something to someone? Particularly if that is a challenge, a call out, or we are inviting someone to explore something? How do we receive such information? What about passive/aggressive radio silence communication? Which in fact is the loudest form of communication. I do focus on the ‘high horse brigade’ & how their clipped, judgmental, condescending approach creates a particular unpleasant dynamic-there’s something about that sanctimonious, fake victim tone that can turn the stomach & hurt your head. We also explore pashmina diverse culture & how they hide behind the ‘I'm cool & reasonable’ veneer. Either way, lets examine what we are saying to each other, why we are saying it, & the all important how we are conveying our messages.Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE..........References ---------------------‘Saddle up’ David Christie from Back in control (1982)‘Blind my mind’ Flunk from Morning star (2004)‘Sun king’ The Beatles from Abbey Rd (1969)‘Some people are crazy’ John Martyn from Grace & Danger (1980)‘Fake plastic trees’ Radiohead from The Bends (1995)‘Takin it to the streets’ The Doobie Bros from Takin it to the streets (1976)‘Communique’ Dire Straits from Communique (1979)‘I cant get with that (Schmoove version) from Come find yourself (1996)‘Any major dude will tell you’ Steely Dan from Pretzel logic (1974)‘On your way down’ Little feat from Dixie Chicken (1973)‘Pumped up kicks’ Foster the people from Torches (2010)
