Newborn Mothers Need a Village: Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum Support

    02/08/2026 | 39 mins.
Pregnancy, birth and postpartum can be some of the most transformative and vulnerable seasons of a mother’s life. But no mother was ever meant to do it all alone.

In this episode of the Parenting Collective Podcast, host Donna Moala sits down with Deyana Salib, Midwife, Owner & Director of Pregnancy Practice Perth, for a heartfelt conversation about why mothers need a village before, during and after birth.

Deyana shares her journey as a midwife and the inspiration behind Pregnancy Practice Perth , a community-focused model designed to support women from early pregnancy through birth and into postpartum.

Together, Donna and Deyana talk about:
    • Why pregnancy support needs to begin from the moment you find out you’re pregnant
    • The importance of continuous midwife-led care throughout pregnancy and birth
    • Why postpartum support is just as important as pregnancy and birth preparation
    • The mental load, anxiety and loneliness many new mothers experience
    • Why mothers need practical help, emotional support and sometimes simply someone to give them a hug
    • The importance of building a genuine “village” around mothers
    • Birth support, breastfeeding, newborn sleep and the professionals who can help
    • Supporting mothers who have experienced miscarriage, infertility or difficult births
    • The impact of isolation and the growing need for connection in modern motherhood
    • Deyana’s charity I’m With You, supporting vulnerable pregnant and postpartum women
    • The role of spirituality, faith, hope and surrendering fear during motherhood

One of the biggest messages from this conversation is simple: you are not failing, you are not meant to do this alone.

Whether you are pregnant, preparing for birth, navigating those early newborn weeks, or supporting a new mum in your life, this episode is a reminder that mothers deserve to be cared for too.

If this episode resonates with you, subscribe to The Parenting Collective Podcast, share it with a mum who needs to hear it, and let us know in the comments: Who is in your village?

How Can Parents Help Their Kids NOT To Lose Their Authentic Self

    26/07/2026 | 32 mins.
Why do so many children lose their authentic selves and what can parents do to protect them?
In this powerful episode of the Parenting Collective Podcast, Donna Moala sits down with Alexander Kopelman, social entrepreneur, advocate, whole-being coach, and author of For Real: Helping Children Remain Their Authentic Selves in a Limiting World, to explore how modern parenting can either nurture or unintentionally suppress a child's true identity.
As the founding President and CEO of the Children's Arts Guild, Alexander helped build a nonprofit dedicated to helping children discover, express, and develop their authentic selves through creativity, connection, and personal growth.
Together, Donna and Alexander unpack why children often disconnect from who they truly are, how shame and generational patterns quietly shape our parenting, and why raising emotionally secure children starts with our own self-awareness. They also discuss practical ways parents can respond instead of react, support children through difficult emotions, and create an environment where kids feel safe to be fully themselves.
In this episode, you will learn:
    * Why children lose their authentic self
    * How generational patterns influence parenting
    * The hidden impact of shame on child development
    * Why your child's behaviour may be reflecting your own triggers
    * How to build emotional safety and stronger parent-child connection
    * Practical ways to raise confident, emotionally resilient children
Whether you're parenting a toddler, teenager, or somewhere in between, this conversation offers practical insights to help you foster connection, emotional wellbeing, and authenticity in your family.

Raise Emotionally Stronger Children with Conscious Parents

    12/07/2026 | 25 mins.
What if raising emotionally resilient children begins with transforming ourselves first?
In this episode of Parenting Collective Podcast, Conscious Parenting Coach Donna Moala explores the power of mindfulness, emotional awareness, and conscious parenting with special guests Mayra Clay, author of The Boy and the Pink Light, and Marc Krusin.
Mayra and Marc are meditation teachers with The Bright Path Ishayas and independent publishers through BookPath, where they share books and tools designed to support emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and conscious living.
Together, Donna, Mayra, and Marc discuss how conscious parenting can help parents:
✨ Understand their child’s emotions instead of simply reacting to behaviour
✨ Build stronger emotional connections with their children
✨ Regulate their own nervous system during challenging parenting moments
✨ Break generational patterns and create healthier family relationships
✨ Support children in developing mindfulness, self-awareness, and emotional resilience
Parenting is not about being perfect. It’s about becoming more present, aware, and connected,  learning how our own emotions, beliefs, and reactions influence the way we show up for our children.
Through meditation, mindfulness, and conscious awareness, parents can create a calmer home environment and help children feel safe, understood, and emotionally supported.
If you’re a parent wanting to raise confident, emotionally healthy children while growing alongside them, this conversation is for you.
